Casa do Vale

Casa do Vale

The wide balcony in the Casa do Vale offers a magnificent view over Cerdeira’s Brook valley. The ideal choice for all of those who treasure tranquillity and direct contact with nature.

The entrance door on the ground floor leads directly into a welcoming social space with a kitchen, a dining table and a cozy living space with a traditional wood burner, an armchair and a sofa bed.

On the first floor there is a bedroom with a double bed, a working desk - ideal for writers - and a bathroom. The windows welcome the morning sun. If you get lucky you can also see some deer as they rummage through the forest.

A truly inspirational house, enriched by the contribution of ceramists Vasco Baltazar and Zita Rosa.

As all the other houses in Cerdeira Village, the Casa do Vale has been restored using ecological and regional materials and favoring the use of local contractors. All houses have central heating and offer great comfort, both in winter and summer. To guarantee that you make the most out of the village’s quietness, we have chosen not to install TVs, radio or internet access in any of the houses.

You can make your stay even more special by booking one of our creative experiences or joining one of the workshops we host throughout the year.

Artistic Creations

Vasco Baltazar e Zita Rosa, ceramists, live and work in Lisbon. Inspired by the Cerdeira’s Brook valley, they brought the flora and fauna of the valley inside with their creations. The lichens that decorate the village’s stones and rocks are reflected in the colors and textures of their installations and harmonize perfectly with their depiction of the deer’s antlers. The green tones of the ceramics obtained by crystallization and the use of local wood, turn this house into an extension of the surrounding woods.
